Falkland Islands Distillers is a small craft distillery in Stanley. Surrounded by our pristine, rugged and truly magnificent environment, we have been distilling with local botanicals since 2016, carefully developing hand crafted gins, which capture the essence of our remote and breathtaking South Atlantic islands.

In March 2019 we were very pleased to open Philomel Distillery in Stanley and launch our first gin, Darwin’s Botanicals. This is fragrant gin is distilled in small batches, infused with locally foraged botanicals including diddle-dee berries, teaberries and scurvy grass, which combine to deliver mellow sweet and bitter sweet notes, unique to the Falkland Islands.

 

This was followed in 2021 by the launch of our South Atlantic Kelper's Gin.  This gin is more peppery and spicy in character, with sweet salty notes infused from our local hand dived kelp, which we hope contrast and create an equally enjoyable maritime companion to Darwin's Botanicals.

We hope that we have created gins to give a truly memorable and unique Falkland Islands experience and we were delighted to be awarded Gold Medals in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021 (Darwin's Botanicals Gin) and 2024 (South Atlantic Kelper's Gin).

The small distillery is a busy working environment, so the opening hours for the shop are managed around distilling and production work. This also includes botanical picking in late summer and early autumn, when we may be away for several days at a time.  During the winter we often also need to close for a few weeks (and during this period we try to ensure that some local shops receive stock).

Normal Thursday & Saturday openings are planned to resume from

During closed winter periods, some stock may be available in the Chandlery and Kelper Stores.
